I have spent more than 28 years in education, with the majority of my career dedicated to serving students, families, and educators in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to serve in many roles, including classroom teacher in grades 2–5, K–5 Instructional Coach through the Cotsen Foundation at McKinley Elementary, Coordinator of the Beginning Teacher Induction Program for K–12 teachers, Assistant Principal at Grant Elementary, and Principal of Webster Elementary. Each of these experiences has shaped how I understand teaching, learning, leadership, and the importance of building strong partnerships with families and staff.

I earned my Master of Education and Administrative Credential from the University of California, Los Angeles through the Principal Leadership Institute. While my experience has provided me with a strong foundation as an educator and leader, I consider myself a lifelong learner. I believe that some of our greatest growth comes from remaining curious, listening deeply, and being willing to continually examine and refine our practice.

One of the most meaningful chapters of my leadership journey has been leading Will Rogers through our development as an International Baccalaureate World School. Alongside our incredible staff, I am incredibly proud of the work we have done to bring the IB mission to life in the everyday experiences of our students.

Becoming an IB World School has also reinvigorated my own learning as a principal. IB has challenged me to think deeply about what it means to lead a school where the development of the whole child is at the center of our work. It has expanded my thinking about how we create learning environments that cultivate curiosity, encourage students to ask meaningful questions, develop intercultural understanding, and empower young people to see themselves as contributors to a world beyond our school community.

This has been and continues to be a learning journey for all of us. We approach that journey with passion, purpose, and a deep belief in the IB mission. We believe that education should help students become knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, and engaged global citizens who understand that they have both a voice and a role to play in shaping the world around them.

I am proud to lead alongside a staff who embrace this work with courage and commitment. Together, we are continually asking ourselves an important question: How can we create the conditions for every child to discover who they are, understand the world around them, and recognize their ability to make a difference?

Teaching and learning are more than my profession; they are my passion. After many years in education, I remain excited by the opportunity to learn alongside our students, educators, and families. I am grateful to continue this journey at Will Rogers and to be part of a community committed to belonging, curiosity, empowerment, and building the global citizens our world needs.

 

Welcome to Will Rogers Learning Community! I am so fortunate to serve as the Assistant Principal of our wonderful school. Having been part of this extraordinary community since 2015, I am honored every single day to work alongside such an exceptional group of students, families, teachers, and staff members.

As someone who grew up right here in Santa Monica, serving this community is deeply personal to me. My highest priority is ensuring that ALL students receive the high-quality, inclusive, and nurturing education they deserve. Education should empower every child to feel seen, valued, and capable of achieving great things. I am committed to making sure our school is a place where every student thrives.

My career in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District began back in 1994. Over the past three decades, I have been privileged to serve our district in a variety of roles across multiple campuses, from special education paraeducator to special education teacher (TK-5) then instructional coach and now as assistant principal.  

I earned my Teaching Credentials and Master of Arts in Special Education from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and my Master of Arts in Educational Administration from California State University, Northridge. Each of these experiences has given me the opportunity to collaborate with amazingly talented educators and administrators. They have helped me see education through diverse perspectives, shaping my belief in lifelong learning, equity, and advocate-centered leadership.
